Accelerate Action is the theme of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2025. Around the world, women and their supporters are being asked to get involved in ways that will advance gender equality while challenging barriers to progress. It’s a call to roll up sleeves and get in the mix — because women touch every aspect of life, on every continent, all over the planet. So, our collective impact can be huge when we believe.

You’ll see visuals this year of women flexing their biceps, an homage to Rosie the Riveter, the iconic image from World War II. During the war, nearly 19 million women filled jobs in heavy industry, manufacturing, and other historically male-dominated fields as men left to serve in the military. These women performed well, and the experience showed them and others that women could excel at more than just homemaking or clerical and service roles. Having white and Black women work side by side also planted seeds for the future of diversity and inclusion.

Change is happening and women are advancing. International Women’s Day is a reminder to keep taking steps, both big and small, to advance gender equality. When we allow everyone to be all they can be, the sky’s the limit.
